Albert Marquet : Exhibition on Display at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris

The Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris will be devoting a major exhibition dedicated to Albert Marquet, until August 21st, 2016.

Having been held since March 25th, 2016, this monographic exhibition puts on view more than one hundred works created by this prominent Fauvist painter, in addition to some paintings and drawings that have never been displayed in France before.

Albert Marquet was born on March 27, 1875, in Bordeaux, a city in southern France. He studied art at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs, after moving to Paris, and then at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.

He was deeply influenced by many renowned artists including his teacher the French symbolist painter Gustave Moreau, and Henri Matisse, the celebrated Fauvist artist with whom he was a friend.

The exhibition is curated by Sophie Krebs.
