    Charles Gleyre (1806-1874). The Reformed Romantic

    Until September 11th, 2016, Musée d’Orsay will be hosting Charles Gleyre (1806-1874). The Reformed Romantic, an exhibition dedicated to Charles Gleyre, the famous Swiss artist.
    Charles Gleyre was actually best-known for being the teacher of some of the leading artists of the late 19th Century including the Impressionist painters Claude Monet (1840 – 1926), Alfred Sisley (1839 – 1899), and Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841 – 1919). His studio also contributed to the creation of other leading artists such as the famous Orientalist artist Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824 – 1904) and the founder of Tonalism James Abbott McNeill Whistler (1834 – 1903).
    As the first major exhibition ever dedicated to Gleyre in France, Charles Gleyre (1806-1874). The Reformed Romantic is an occasion to know more about this great painter, his studio, and his style.
