Flamenco Rhythms Dazzle the Théâtre National de Chaillot

In late June the Théâtre National de Chaillot will be taken over by the rhythm of flamenco. Originally from Andalusia, Spain, flamenco has risen in popularity across the world. In fact, the Spanish dance has even been named a 'Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity' by UNESCO.

Now, guests staying at one of the Sister Hotels Champs-Elysées can discover or rediscover the intoxicating sounds and movements of flamenco not too far away from their hotel rooms. The Théâtre National de Chaillot is a theater located in the Trocadero Square next to the Eiffel Tower. With an agenda full of a variety of theater, dance and music performances, this theater offers up plenty of entertainment for Parisian inhabitants and visitors.

Starting on June 19, 2013, the Théâtre de Chaillot will host a series of dance performances that highlight the extraordinary nature of flamenco. The performances start with Eva Yerbabuena, whose bold piece entitled 'Federico según Lorca' incorporates contemporary elements with traditional flamenco.

Then, performers such as Carmen Lilith, Olga Pericet and Rocío Molina will present their own special takes on the language of flamenco. For many dancers, the flamenco tradition is shared among families, being passed down from generation to generation. On June 23, the Familia de los Reyes will demonstrate the strong bond that is created among relatives who dance together.
