Luxury Handbag Designer Lancel Lights Up the Champs-Elysées
On the Champs-Elysées, a chic brand known for its luxurious handbags impresses with its massive flagship store lighting up the Parisian avenue. This brand is called Lancel, and it has been crafting its high-quality leather goods for more than 135 years. In fact, the company celebrated its 135th anniversary in 2011 by giving the flagship store on the Champs-Elysées a makeover, and now the space is more glamorous than ever.
Guests staying at one of the Sister Hotels Champs-Elysées are in the perfect spot to check out this store and do a little shopping in close proximity to their hotel. This will give visitors the opportunity to shop for handbags designed in collaboration with some of France's biggest movie stars, like Brigitte Bardot and Isabelle Adjani.
The story of Lancel began in 1876, when it was founded by a woman named Angèle Lancel. The company stayed in the family for years, with Angèle Lancel being succeeded by her son Alfred, who himself was succeeded by his children. In 1997, the brand was acquired by the group Richemont, leaving the family for the first time in its long history. Since this acquisition, Lancel has reduced its number of product lines and concentrated on a handful of products that truly reflect the spirit of the Lancel name.
As a result, visitors who stop by the flagship store on the Champs-Elysées will see handbags, women's leather goods, men's leather goods, travel accessories and one product that is completely unique to Lancel: the Daligramme. By using a set of symbols and graphic letters created by Salvador Dalí for his wife in the 1970s, the Daligramme bag represents a truly unique piece that shoppers can see only at Lancel.
