Modern Furniture Design Is Brought to the Forefront
Marcel Breuer was an architect and designer who helped to shape the development of furniture design in the 20th century. Breuer was only 23 when he made a splash in the design world with the innovative creation of furniture made out of steel tubes. Now, guests staying at the one of the Sister Hotels Champs-Elysées can discover this influential designer at the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine.
The Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine is a center dedicated to architecture and the architectural heritage of France. The center is located in the Palais de Chaillot, which itself is found in Trocadero, an open square right near the Eiffel Tower. This means that guests of the Sister Hotels Champs-Elysées are very close to this cultural center and the exhibitions that it features.
The exhibition dedicated to Marcel Breuer runs at the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine until July 17, 2013, giving visitors to Paris plenty of time to explore the metal and wooden designs of this furniture designer.
The interesting thing about Breuer is that, having already completely changed the artistic landscape within furniture design, the young artist then began to turn his attention to architecture. He began this career transition in the 1920s and 1930s, but he did not find success as an architect until the 1940s.
This exhibition will cover both periods are Breuer's career so that visitors can understand the entirety of his artistic vision. As such, it is the first exhibition to explore all aspects of Breuer's career and present them in a comprehensive way.
