Photographer Raymond Depardon Honored at the Grand Palais

Raymond Depardon is a French photographer known across the globe for his ability to capture slices of life from French countrysides and urban environments. Depardon came from humble origins, teaching himself hope to use a camera on his family's farm at the age of 12. Today, he is one of the most respected photojournalists in the world, traveling as far as Vietnam and Chad to document his subjects.

Starting on November 14, 2013, an exhibition at the Grand Palais will pay tribute to this extraordinary artist and journalist. In the exhibit dedicated to Raymond Depardon, 150 works realized over a period of 60 years will be showcased. In this way, the epic and prolific career of Depardon can be appreciated by fans as well as discovered for the first time by those unfamiliar with the photographer.

Guests staying at one of the Sister Hotels Champs-Elysées can visit the Depardon exhibit quite easily, with the Grand Palais situated in very close proximity to the Champs-Elysées. The event will run until February 10, 2014, giving visitors plenty of time to experience the artist's work.

The exhibit is entitled 'Un Moment Si Doux' — or Such a Sweet Moment, in English. It focuses on the colors of Depardon's work and how these colors capture the emotion of daily life. In this way, he reveals the magic of the ordinary world for everyone to see. In addition to his fascination with daily life, Depardon also used his work to highlight and fight against inequality in the world. Both of these perspective are on display right now at the Grand Palais.
