The Bronzes of Imperial China Make Their Debut in Paris
The Cernuschi Museum is revealing a new exhibition on the 'Bronzes of Imperial China' from September 20, 2013 until January 19, 2014. During this time, guests staying at one of the Sister Hotels Champs-Elysées can see for themselves the importance of bronze work in China from the Song to the Qing dynasty.
The Musée Cernuschi is a museum specializing in the Asian arts. With its location on Avenue Vélasquez in the 8th arrondissement, the museum is just a short journey away from any one of the Sister Hotels. The museum includes works from China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam — dating from a wide variety of periods in history. In addition to its permanent collections, the Musée Cernuschi also organizes temporary exhibitions.
The exhibit on Chinese bronzes puts a spotlight on the museum's impressive collection of bronze sculptures, which consists of more than one thousand works. This makes it one of the biggest collections of bronzes that come from the 10th to 19th century. The exhibition marks the first time that such a large collection has been displayed in its context in France.
